How the Referral Bonus Works
You already tow retail customers to repair shops. When the shop is a Pep Boys and the drop-off is logged in Dolooma, Dolooma pays you a referral bonus on top of the tow fee your customer already paid. The program is run by Dolooma with Pep Boys, and every Pep Boys location takes part. Nothing about the tow itself changes.
Every one of the 822 locations across 36 states and Puerto Rico takes part. The customer pays your normal tow fee at drop-off, exactly as they do today.
Store, plate or VIN, and two photos: the vehicle in the lot with store signage visible, and a close-up with a readable plate. Log it within 48 hours of the drop-off. If you dispatch in Dolooma this is the record you already keep; if you dispatch elsewhere, your driver logs it from the Dolooma app within minutes.
Verification is automatic: your truck's geofenced arrival within a tenth of a mile of the store, the time-stamped photos, and a match to a unique work order in Pep Boys' shop system. You see the job move through four statuses the whole time: Logged, Verified, Invoiced, Paid.
No forms, no emailing a store manager, no chasing a check.
Typically within two weeks of the drop-off, Dolooma deposits the bonus in the bank account on your Dolooma profile, itemized per job.
What the bonus pays
Every completed referral pays a bonus. The rate is set by the whole Dolooma network, not by your own volume.
All completed referrals from all Dolooma operators add up to one monthly total. When that total crosses a tier, every operator moves up to the higher rate for that month, whether you ran one tow or fifty. One pool, one rate, everybody moves up together.
| Network referrals completed that month | Bonus per referral |
|---|---|
| 0 to 300 | $20 |
| 301 to 750 | $25 |
| 751 to 1,500 | $30 |
| 1,501 to 3,000 | $35 |
| 3,001 and up | $40 |
The count starts over on the first of each calendar month.
Example: if the network completes 280 referrals in March, every referral that month pays $20. If the network completes 350, every referral that month pays $25, including the first 300, and including yours.
What you never do: negotiate a rate store by store, submit paperwork, or wait on a paper check. What the program never does: charge you to take part. Enrollment is free, there is no minimum volume, and the bonus rises with the network's volume.
Who Qualifies
The program is built for independent tow operators and small fleets doing retail work. Here is what counts.
Your business
- A licensed towing business operating in the United States or Puerto Rico.
- A Dolooma account, created free when you enroll. You do not need a paid Dolooma subscription to earn the bonus.
- One enrollment covers every truck and driver in your company.
The tow
- A retail tow: the customer is paying you directly for the tow.
- Dropped at any Pep Boys location, day or night; after hours, use the store's night key drop.
- Cars, SUVs, pickups, vans and light- and medium-duty trucks up to 26,000 lb GVWR.
- Logged in Dolooma within 48 hours of drop-off, with both required photos.
What does not qualify
- Tows dispatched and paid by a motor club, insurer or roadside program such as Agero, Urgently, Honk or AAA. Those customers already have a destination agreement.
- Drop-offs logged more than 48 hours after the fact.
- The same vehicle more than once in 30 days.
Every job shows its eligibility status in your Dolooma dashboard. Questions or disputes go to support@dolooma.com or (877) 7-DOLOOMA.
A Referral Tow In Practice
ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLE. THE TOW FEE AND MONTHLY VOLUME ARE EXAMPLES, NOT PUBLISHED RATES; THE BONUS IS THE PUBLISHED TIER-ONE RATE.
Say you run three light-duty trucks in Tampa. A customer's sedan will not start in a grocery-store lot. They call you directly, not a motor club. You quote your standard retail rate, $125 for the hook and 12 miles, and ask where they would like it taken. Tampa has seven Pep Boys locations; the nearest is four miles away.
- Day 0, 2:40 pm
Drop at Pep Boys – Tampa. The customer pays your $125 tow fee. Your driver logs the drop from the truck: store, plate, and the two photos.
Status: Logged - Within days
Geofenced arrival, time-stamped photos and the store's work order match. Dolooma generates and submits the invoice.
Status: Verified, then Invoiced - Typically within two weeks
Dolooma deposits the $20 referral bonus to your account through Auto Pay.
Status: Paid
One tow, two payments, no paperwork. At 20 retail tows a month that is 20 bonuses you were not collecting before, $20 each at the first tier and more as the network's monthly count grows, with no change to how you dispatch.
The same account unlocks Tow Network Advantage pricing for your own trucks: 10% off labor and parts, 5% off tires with a flat $25 per tire to mount them, and locked-in prices such as a $104.99 alignment and a $69 synthetic PM service. Those numbers are published today and are not placeholders.

Referral Bonus vs. Motor-Club Dispatch
Most operators run both. Motor-club work fills the calendar; the referral program adds a second payment to the retail work you already do. The differences that matter:
| Pep Boys referral | Motor club or roadside network | |
|---|---|---|
| Who pays you | The customer pays your tow fee; Dolooma pays you a referral bonus on top. | The network pays a negotiated per-call rate; the customer usually pays you nothing. |
| Who sets the rate | You set your tow fee. The bonus is fixed by the program: $20 per referral, rising to $40 as the network's monthly volume grows. | The network sets the rate, often below your retail price. |
| When you are paid | Tow fee at drop-off. Bonus by Auto Pay, typically within two weeks. | Typically 15 to 45 days by check or ACH, varying by network. |
| Paperwork | None. Dolooma logs, verifies and invoices. | Per-call documentation, photos, PO numbers, and a dispute process. |
| Where the car goes | Any Pep Boys you agree with the customer. | Wherever the dispatch says. |
| Job volume | Every retail tow you already do. | Depends on acceptance rate, ETA scores and territory. |
| Exclusivity | None. Runs alongside every other contract you hold. | Some networks ask for priority or exclusivity terms. |
| Cost to join | Free. | Free to apply; onboarding, insurance minimums and compliance checks follow. |
| Replaces the other? | No. It is additive. | No. |
If you already do motor-club work, nothing about it changes. If you do not, the program needs none of it.
Common Questions

$20 per completed referral to start. The rate is set by the whole Dolooma network's completed referrals that month: $25 after 300, $30 after 750, $35 after 1,500 and $40 after 3,000. When the network crosses a tier, every operator gets the higher rate on every referral that month. The count starts over on the first of each month. There is no minimum volume and no cost to enroll.

Dispatch/job tracking, auto-invoicing to Pep Boys, verification, and Auto Pay to you. You get visibility on every step.
